Adolescents and Addiction - 6 hours - $80
This workshop will explore risk factors for substance use and abuse among youth: the ways they are different from adults, co-morbid problems among youth, and the impact of use on developmental processes. Focus on the distinctive needs of adolescents utilizing multi-systems for treatment, treatment planning and treatment strategies as supported by evidenced based practices. Addiction and Personality Disorders - 6 hours - $80
This workshop will explore the world view and interpersonal style of clients with Cluster B personality disorders, examine the impact of drug use on the expression of pathology, explore strategies for engagement and retention of these challenging clients and learn to appreciate the "pathology" of early abstinence. Taught by Nikki Johnson, MA, CADC III.
 
Assessing and Treating Sexual Addiction - 6 hrs - $80
This workshop presents diagnostic criteria and assessment tools for sexual addiction. Treatment strategies and the recovery process will be explored to help counselors develop concrete intervention tools for sex addicts and their families. Taught by Steven DeLugach, MS, LPC.
 
COD: Anxiety Disorders - 6 hours - $80
Learn how to recognize the symptoms associated with anxiety disorders such as PTSD, Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, OCD etc. and the impact they have on substance use disorders. Participants will explore assessment and screening tools used to determine presence and/or severity of these disorders. The workshop will cover Evidence Based Treatments, including a basic understanding of the medications used to treat anxiety. Attendees will be given several scales and screening tools they can use in their work. They will also be provided with information on how to use and score the scales. Learn how to recognize the symptoms associated with mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Dysthymia etc. and the impact they have on substance use disorders. Criminality and Addiction - 6 hours - $80
An overview of drug abuse treatment principles for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Learn differences and similarities between criminal and addicted thinking, including impact on the recovery process, application of Evidence Based Practices showing effectiveness with the population. Curriculum Based Motivational Group - 6 hours - $80
This workshop will provide you with everything you need to facilitate a five contact motivational group. Every activity is designed to further client motivation. Domestic Violence and Addiction - 6 hours - $80
Why does it seem that domestic violence and substance abuse occur together? Which came first? What do you do when the family you're working with is experiencing both? This workshop will attempt to answer these questions and more from the perspectives of domestic violence intervention and substance abuse treatment. Gangs: Risk Assessment and Interventions - 6 hours - $80
Explore types of gangs and their origins, learn to assess for risk of gang involvement, identify stages of involvement and proven intervention strategies for both Hispanic and African American clients. Homelessness and Addiction - 6 hours - $80
This one day workshop will explore myths and stereotypes and introduce best practices in engagement, prevention and sustainability in meeting the needs  of homeless addicts.  Taught by Michele Mannix CADC II

Racism as an Ethical Issue - 6 hours - $80
Meets 6 CE hour Ethics requirement.  This workshop builds awareness of uninitentional counselor bias. Explores cultural context, counselor defenses, microaggressions, and strategies to enhance counselor competence. Uses video, small group discussion and individual exploration activities. Relationships and Addiction - 6 hours - $80
Develop an understanding of the impact of addication and recovery on the phases of a couple's life together. Special focus on destructive vs. healthy communication styles, review of Oregon Evidence Based Practices for couples therapy related to alcoholism and drug abuse, learning several interventions within those practices. Resolving Client Shame - 6 hours - $80
This workshop will focus on looking at a model for understanding and exploring shame issues, and the impact of those issues on recovery and relapse. We will apply evidence based counseling practices that support the clients' resolution of their shame issues.  Led by Sarah Wheeler, CADC II.
 
Transforming Grief - 6 hours - $80
The losses clients experience are immense. Helping them work through grief holds the potential for healing and wholeness. Learn strategies to help your clients discover the vital information their grief has to offer and how to use it in their recovery. Taught by Marilyn Cady.

This one day workshop will focus on identifying the biology of addiction and trauma as well as learning to categorize clinical symptoms that present with each. Treating Co-dependent Behaviors - 6 hours -$80
Treating Co-Dependent Behaviors. Counselors will learn to help clients Recognize Co-dependent behavior as an ineffective attempt to get needs met. Treating Marijuana Dependence - 6 hours - $80
This one day course covers NIDA best practices with marijuana dependent clients, educating clients around the scientifically defensible research on the health consequences of marijuana use. ASAM and Client Records Management - 12 hours - $120
ASAM Made Easy has been morphed into a two day workshop. The most common finding state auditors have with client records is treatment plans. Adding this to ASAM should be a great help to people struggling with paperwork. Taught by Kathy Tomlin, MS, LPC, CADC III.
 
Client/Counselor Boundary Issues: Resolving Transference and Counter Transference Problems - 12 hours - $120
This two day course will enhance skills in recognizing and resolving transference and countertransference with addiction treatment clients, enhance awareness of counselor vulnerability for boundary problems, and will assist in developing a plan to avoid boundary violations. Co-Occuring Disorders - 12 hours - $120
Co-Occurring Disorders; NEW and IMPOROVED: This workshop will review the principles of Co-occurring Disorders (COD), brain functions and reward pathway and changes that occur with MH/AOD.  There will be a focus on assessment and screening, primary symptomatology associated with Mental Health Disorders, and evidenced based practices and usual treatments for COD’s, including pharmacotherapy. Attendees will be given several scales they can use in their work. DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) -12 hours - $150

The Teaching Side of Treatment - 12 hours - $135
Developing good teaching materials with or without fancy technology. Education that works for clients recovering from brain impairing drugs. Participants will learn the principles of learning and teaching and how to apply them to special needs of addicts in treatment. Leave with the beginnings of a usable teaching product. Theories of Addiction Treatment and Counseling (pre-test brush-up) - 12 hours - $120
This two day course covers 54 theories of research-based principles of effective drug treatment along with traditional counseling theory. This course is designed as a refresher for the National Certification Examinations. Presented by Eric Martin, M.A.C., CADC III, CPS.
 
Treating Latinos and Diverse Cultures - 12 hours - $120

Clinical Supervision - 28 Hours - $295
Designed to enhance skills for new and experienced clinical supervisors in addiction treatment. The workshop will focus on the specific supervisor roles of assessing and coaching counselors in the skills, knowledge and attitudes (KSA's) necessary for development as a substance abuse counselor. The course takes place in two segments of two days each, and meets 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Offered by Maureen Jenne, MS, CADC III.
