One Day Workshops
 
Addiction and Personality Disorders - 6 hours - $70
This workshop will explore the world view and interpersonal style of clients with Cluster B personality disorders, examine the impact of drug use on the expression of pathology, explore strategies for engagement and retention of these challenging clients and learn to appreciate the "pathology" of early abstinence. Taught by Nikki Johnson, MA, CPS.

Curriculum Based Motivational Group - 6 hours- $80
This workshop will provide you with everything you need to facilitate a five contact motivational group. Every activity is designed to further client motivation. A manual with rationale, structure and reproducible handouts is provided. Taught by Ann Fields, MA, CADC III, trained by Miller, ten years with MI.
 
Gangs: Risk Assessment and Interventions - $80
Explore types of gangs and their origins, learn to assess for risk of gang involvement, identify stages of involvement and proven intervention strategies for both Hispanic and African American clients. Taught by Ricardo Olalde, MS, CCJS, CADC III, Executive Director MultiCultural Consultants, Ltd., and Pernell Brown, CADC I.
 
Public Spirituality - 6 hours - $80 (includes workbook)
This workshop will introduce a framework for addressing a person's spiritual life, using a common language that honors one's unique spiritual identity. Participants will become familiar with the workbook 7 Steps to Finding your Spiritual Life, which feathers a strength-based spiritually-grounded approach to recovery. Taught by book's co-authors Lisa and Brian Langford Heron, M.Div.
 
Resolving Client Shame - $70
This workshop will focus on looking at a model for understanding and exploring shame issues, and the impact of those issues on recovery and relapse. We will apply evidence based counseling practices that support the clients' resolution of their shame issues.  Led by Sarah Wheeler, CADC II.
 
Transforming Grief - 6 hours - $70
The losses clients experience are immense. Helping them work through grief holds the potential for healing and wholeness. Learn strategies to help your clients discover the vital information their grief has to offer and how to use it in their recovery. Taught by Marilyn Cady.
 
Treating Co-dependent Behaviors - 6 hours - $70
Treating Co-Dependent Behaviors. Counselors will learn to help clients Recognize Co-dependent behavior as an ineffective attempt to get needs met. Participants will learn a structured process to teach clients how to assess themselves, and how to support clients in the process of improving functional capacity. Taught by Sarah Wheeler, CADC II.
 
Treating Marijuana Dependence - 6 hours - $70
This one day course covers NIDA best practices with marijuana dependent clients, educating clients around the scientifically defensible research on the health consequences of marijuana use. The increasing potency of marijuana and neuropharmacology of THC. Presented by Martin, MA, CADC II.

Two Day Workshops
 
Addiction and the Family - 12 hours - $105
This initial workshop is designed to provide an overview of the theories, addictive processes, roles and relational problems that are evident in the treatment of families with addiction and will provide a foundation for further one day trainings that will explore more specific topics on Families and Addiction. Presented by Kelly Washam, MA, CADC.
 
Advanced Counseling Skills -12 hours - $145
This workshop is now two days. Video review provides the most powerful form of counseling skill enhancement. All participants are required to bring a video tape. Participants will learn about and practice using an process to evaluate performance of counseling skills. The intended outcomes from these experiences is a counselor's increased skill in self-observation and self-care in the counseling interaction. Presented by Wheeler, CADC II.
 
Client/Counselor Boundary Issues: Resolving Transference and Counter Transference Problems - 12 hours - $105
This two day course will enhance skills in recognizing and resolving transference and countertransference with addiction treatment clients, enhance awareness of counselor vulnerability for boundary problems, and will assist in developing a plan to avoid boundary violations. Presented by Johnson, MA, CPS.
 
Co-Occuring Disorders in Criminal Justice Populations - 12 hours - $150
This workshop will review the principles of COD, specific interventions and program models (EBO and promising) used with corrections clients to manage mental health and addiction problems. It will utilize TIP 24. Taught by Kathyleen Tomlin, LPC, CADC III, David Vancil, and Nikki Johnson.
 
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) -12 hours - $150
This workshop emphasizes developing an  understanding of DBT and the foundation for developing the skill set necessary to use DBT effectively with a wide variety of clients.DBT helps empower clients to improve emotional containment and develop skills to improve functioning. Managing Client Records with ASAM - 12 hours - $105
ASAM Made Easy has been morphed into a two day workshop. The most common finding state auditors have with client records is treatment plans. Adding this to ASAM should be a great help to people struggling with paperwork. Taught by Kathy Tomlin, MS, LPC, CADC III.
 
MI: Theory and Practice - 12 hours - $105
This workshop will ground participants in the theory and skill for this evidence based practice. Participants will practice the skills and strategies of MI. Presented by MI author Kathyleen Tomlin, CADC III, LPC.
 
The Teaching Side of Treatment - 12 hours - $135
Developing good teaching materials with or without fancy technology. Education that works for clients recovering from brain impairing drugs. Participants will learn the principles of learning and teaching and how to apply them to special needs of addicts in treatment. Leave with the beginnings of a usable teaching product. Participants will need to bring their own laptop computer. Presented by Johnson, MA, CPS.
 
Theories of Addiction Treatment and Counseling (pre-test brush-up) - 12 hours - $105
This two day course covers 54 theories of research-based principles of effective drug treatment along with traditional counseling theory. This course is designed as a refresher for the National Certification Examinations. Presented by Martin, MA, CADC III, NCAC II.
 
Three Day Workshops
 
Advanced Group Skills: Motivational Interviewing -18 hours - $185
This three day workshop follows the Basic Skills training. Participants will utilize videotaping to advance their skills in group facilitation, especially with resistant clients. Special emphasis will focus on utilizing Motivational Interviewing in group processes. Will include material from Kathy's newly authored book. Presented by one of Oregon's premier MI trainers, Kathyleen Tomlin, MA, LPC, CADC III
 
Clinical Supervision - 18 Hours - $195
Designed to enhance skills for new and experienced clinical supervisors in addiction treatment. The workshop will focus on the specific supervisor roles of assessing and coaching counselors in the skills, knowledge and attitudes (KSA's) necessary for development as a substance abuse counselor. Offered by Maureen Jenne, MS, CADC III and Janese Olalde, CADC II. CGAC II.
